National Anthem Performer

Are you a talented singer?  Will you be attending the 2012 FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida?  Do you want to sing the national anthem during Opening General Session? Interested FCCLA members should submit a sample of them singing the national anthem, preferably in the traditional style.  All submissions should include the performer’s name, chapter, state, e-mail address, and phone number. Please submit your audition by Friday, May 25 via one of the following:

§  Make a demo MP3 and email to edoane@fcclainc.org
§ 
Make a demo CD and mail to Edie Doane, FCCLA National Anthem, 1910 Association Drive, Reston, VA 20191
§  Make a demo video, upload to youtube.com or schooltube.com, and email the direct link to edoane@fcclainc.org.  

Audition demos will not be returned.  FCCLA will not cover travel or registration costs for the selected performer.  Please email questions to Edie Doane, Leadership Development Manager, at edoane@fcclainc.org. 

 

Tours 

FCCLA offers a wide variety of tours prior to the National Leadership Conference. When planning your tour, please leave plenty of time between you anticipated arrival and start of tours in which you plan to participate. FCCLA is not responsible for tour refunds due to delayed travel. Tour Registration is only available online and is based on availability. Please visit, www.fcclainc.org/nlctours to register for a tour. Tour Registration closes June 15, 2012.

Please Note: An adult must accompany and supervise all students at a ratio of one adult for every four students. Male chaperones should supervise male students. National headquarters will not provide supervision for students traveling alone.

 

 NEW DRESS POLICY

FCCLA is implementing a NEW dress policy at the 2012 National Leadership Conference.  Advisers, please make special note of the changes to the dress policy for students.  Student dress should contribute to the professional image of FCCLA. Advisers are responsible for enforcing the dress policy.  Delegates, advisers, chaperones, and guests not adhering to the dress policy will not be admitted into any general sessions, workshops, or the STAR Events recognition sessions.  Casual attire is allowed at the Tuesday Special Event.  Suggested attire for the FCCLA Gala is semi-formal.  Students attending the Gala may come to the closing general session in their semi-formal attire. 

Student Delegates: Opening General Session, Business Session, Exhibits, Workshops, Knowledge Bowl and Closing General Session:

Males:

  • Red, black, or white polo or oxford shirt (long or short sleeves) 
  • Black dress slacks or khaki pants 
  • Dress shoes

 Females:

  • Red, black, or white polo or oxford shirt (long or short sleeves) 
  • Black dress slacks or khaki pants Black or khaki skirts – no shorter than 2 inches above the knee 
  • Dress shoes or sandals 

The FCCLA official blazer is always appropriate and STRONGLY encouraged. 

Star Events Recognition Session:

 Males:
  • Red, black, or white polo or oxford shirt (long or short sleeves) 
  • Black dress slacks or khaki pants 
  • Dress shoes

 Females:

  • Red, black, or white polo or oxford shirt (long or short sleeves) 
  • Black dress slacks or khaki pants Black or khaki skirts – no shorter than 2 inches above the knee 
  • Dress shoes or sandals 

Exception: Culinary Arts participants are welcome to wear their Chef's Attire during the STAR Events Recognition Sessions.

 Star Events and Skilled Demonstration Events Participants:

  • Follow the event specifications for dress and wear appropriate clothing for the nature of the presentation.

 Advisers/ Chaperones/ Guests

  •   Business casual 

INAPPROPRIATE ATTIRE FOR ALL ATTENDEES

  •  Denim, flannel, or chambray fabric clothing of any kind including overalls, shorts, and skirts
  • Sweatpants and t-shirts (including meeting logo t-shirts)
  • Backless, see-through, tight-fitting, spaghetti straps, strapless, low-cut blouses/tops/dresses
  • Spandex, midriff tops, tank tops, and bathing suits
  • Extremely short skirts (shorter than 2 inches above the knee)
  • Rubber, beach type flip flops 
  • Night wear (pajamas) should not be worn outside of your hotel room

Spotlight on Projects

Spotlight on projects showcases the National Program Award winning projects. Chapters are invited to share their projects during this event. To participate, complete the online Spotlight on Projects Participation Form by May, 1 2012.
